Marco
My name is Marco, and I was born in 1992. After getting a BA in History and an MA in Historical Sciences, both summa cum laude at the University of Genoa, I published the findings of my academic research in a book on the history of cryptography.
Sport is my lifelong passion. For many years I played soccer in Italy and abroad in the role of keeper, both in the Italian Serie D (the top level of the Italian non-professional football association) and in the Maltese Premier League. However, I always felt the call of the wild and the need for adventure.
After numerous hiking trips and multi-day solo treks in absolute autonomy, I approached the disciplines of climbing and mountaineering. I have under my belt many ascents, including several of the 4000s of the Alps and an expedition on the north side of Mount Elbrus in Russia and one on Peak Lenin in Kyrgyzstan. From the top of the mountains to the bottom of the sea, my passion for nature is total. I engage in kayaking trips, snorkeling, and scuba diving in the Mediterranean Sea.
I’M With AIC
When I was 18 months old, I was diagnosed with celiac disease. However, with time and wit I overcame the difficulties of maintaining a gluten-free diet while building my experience as a professional outdoor traveler.
Today, I lead hikers and backpackers in discovering outstanding sceneries in Italy and all over the world.
In 2019, I was the testimonial of the campaign ‘Io sto con AIC’, organized by the Italian Celiac Association which sustains celiac people in their everyday life.
